NetConnect is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) package with an unprecedented depth of offerings for critical infrastructure. NetConnect enables the secure, simple, and independent connection of BentoNet-ready devices and systems to the BentoNet WorkDesk.
Typically, customers develop their own isolated systems for collecting and processing data. This is highly complex, as the system not only needs to be planned but also operated. To process the data, customers often use cloud service providers whose headquarters are abroad and are therefore subject to different laws and regulations. With BentoNet, everything comes from a single source—and meets German and European security standards for the energy industry: from compliance with the IT Security Act 2.0 (2021) and the System Protection Plan of transmission system operators (in accordance with the TSO zone model) to certification under the international ISO/IEC 27001 standard for information, cybersecurity, and data protection. By securely forwarding the collected data from the metering device infrastructure to the BentoNet infrastructure via M2M technology, BentoNet provides maximum protection and ensures the security of critical infrastructure.
BentoNet offers a 100% scalable ecosystem consisting of cloud infrastructure (including data transmission), a digital workplace, and optional hardware components—known as “BentoNet.” This is billed to the customer based on volume tariffs. NetConnect provides a complete data acquisition and control domain with more than 20 standardized services. The WorkDesk provides the application domain where apps process customer data.

Harmonizing Data Streams
Devices connected via “NetConnect” (such as measuring devices, switching devices, cloud systems, smart meter gateways, etc.) harmonize their data according to the Unified Data Standard, using Field Device Interfaces (FDIs). For each BentoNet-ready device, BentoNet provides an FDI for retrieving or writing data. This makes device integration highly efficient. Harmonizing data streams enables the use of data in the BentoNet WorkDesk and the third-party software apps offered there. This allows for manufacturer-independent connections between innovative software apps, measuring, and control devices in the BentoNet Internet of Energy.
Secure Architecture
NetConnect sets standards in data security. Both the communication routes and the data centers in Germany are under 100% control by BentoNet. The NetConnect architecture complies with the TSO zone model and implements active security management in accordance with ISO 27001, which is monitored by DEKRA.
Predictable Costs Without Resource Commitment
“NetConnect” combines multiple service levels of BentoNet and offers a unique, easy-to-implement service package for using data in the context of critical infrastructure. Transparent billing via monthly packages per device creates cost transparency and predictability for the digitalization of highly complex systems in vulnerable areas—without tying up capital or internal resources.
